Playing Cards by Takenobu Igarashi

The Story

During the early days of the personal computer in the late 1980s, designer Takenobu Igarashi received a commission from the New York Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) to create “playing cards with a contemporary look.”

Using a computer blending tool, he produced a set of elegant images that toggle between two and three dimensions.

Now Igarashi's timeless card-deck masterpiece has been reproduced by the globally renowned playing card maker Piatnik in a form nearly identical to the original deck as it first appeared in 1993.
