シャーカーボックスは19世紀アメリカのシャーカー教徒が作ったもので、「美は実用にあり」「秩序は美」という理念を具現化しています。薄い木板を曲げて楕円形にし、鳩目継ぎと銅鋲で丈夫で美しい形に仕上げられた代表的な工芸品です。現在もコレクションや収納に使われ、実用と美の調和を伝えています。
