Higashi Shirakawa Village, located in the eastern part of Gifu Prefecture (Japan), is the birthplace of Shirakawa Tea. The village is surrounded by mountains of 1000 meters above sea level, 90% of the area is mountain forest.

An altitude of 600 meters is said to be the limit of tea plantation cultivation. Tea leaves that have survived the harsh natural conditions, produce an exceptional aroma and deep flavour.
